The importance of giving tzedakah during the Nine Days has been emphasized on several occasions. The above is particularly relevant Erev Shabbos when there is a need to help other Jews fulfill the mitzvah of taking pleasure in the Shabbos which involves an outlay of money, e.g., for food, for clothing, and the like. Needless to say, all of these physical matters have spiritual counterparts.
May the spiritual service effect the material substance and may the material acts have spiritual ramifications; particularly, at present, when very shortly, the separation between physicality and spirituality will be nullified with the coming of the Messianic redemption. These gifts to tzedakah will hasten the coming of that redemption. May it come immediately.
