When the Alter Rebbe wished to bless R. Yekusiel Liepler with wealth, the latter said he did not want it - he did not want wealth distracting him from studying Chassidus and performing his G-dly service. When the Rebbe wished to bless him with longevity, he answered, "But not with 'peasant years' - men who have eyes but do not see, who have ears but do not hear; who neither perceive nor hear G-dliness."
